TNA has showcased various packaging systems at an open house at its UK headquarters on 16 August 2023.

The global food processing and packaging solutions provider demonstrated its bagging, slicing and technologies, including the ‘Perfect Pair’ – the TNA Robag 3e and TNA Auto-splice 3, TNA Ropac 5, TNA Intelli-flav OMS 5 and virtual factory experience.

TNA Robag 3e and TNA Auto-splice 3 address automation and efficiency demands.

The two systems together offer a new CXE integrated display controller and automatic film splicing, which combined can deliver up to a 5% increase in production uptime with only marginally increasing floor space.

The TNA Robag 3e is a high-speed vertical form fill and seal (VFFS) packaging system capable of reaching speeds of up to 250 bags per minute.

TNA says the Ropac 5 is the ‘world’s fastest case-packing system for flexible bags’, capable of handling up to 220 bags per minute.

Designed with TNA’s patented semi-rotary bag stacking technology, the system specifically caters to the packaging needs of small-to-medium, pillow-style bags.

Its tool-less changeovers and compact design are highly valued by manufacturers, as it allows for seamless integration into production lines and ensures optimal performance in packaging operations.

The TNA Intelli-flav OMS 5 is a high-tech on-machine seasoning (OMS) system that integrates a dynamic vibratory weigh conveyor, allowing for the harmonious merge of product, oil spray, and seasoning powder within a single drum.

By intelligently adjusting the seasoning based on the needs of the scale or bagger, it ensures superior coverage and flavour distribution. Crafted for delectable flavours, visuals, and textures, the system allows for uniformly applied seasoning through gentle high-speed product tumbling.

The Virtual Factory from TNA is a new solution that leverages the power of extended reality (XR) to create a fully functioning and interactive digital twin of any planned or current operations.

By optimising physical footprints, ensuring access, and seamlessly integrating line equipment, potential hazards and challenges can be mitigated before anyone sets foot on site. Regardless of their global location, all stakeholders can meet virtually, saving time and reducing carbon footprint by minimising travel.

The chosen production lines can be seen in full operation, providing opportunities for comprehensive analysis, scenario testing, and real-time adjustments. Potential bottlenecks or situations that may lead to wastage or unscheduled downtime can be identified and addressed. In addition, remote capabilities offer immersive and interactive training, as well as access to virtual support. The primary benefits include increased efficiency, improved productivity and enhanced uptime.
